Emerging as a key center for healthcare, banking, and technology, Birmingham saw nearly $3.6 billion in tourism expenditures in 2022 and a metropolitan GDP of nearly $80 billion, reflecting substantial growth since the pandemic.

Understanding the economic impact of Leisure and Hospitality events and development projects is vital to showcasing Birmingham’s stature as a business destination. IEO’s Data and Marketing team develops economic impact studies for economic development projects and major Leisure and Hospitality events within the City of Birmingham. We work closely with the BJCC and other economic development entities to ensure that there are no duplications of analysis.
