From Southern Living:

“It’s a pleasant 70-degree evening along downtown Birmingham’s historic Morris Avenue, where Edison string lights twinkle above the cobblestone patio outside the charming French bistro La Fête. I’m dining alfresco with the restaurant’s executive chef and owner, Kristen Hall, who left behind a development job at The University of Alabama at Birmingham about 12 years ago to pursue her dream of becoming a pastry chef.

Kristen, one of the many rising stars who make the Magic City’s culinary constellation shiny and bright, orders a round of small plates. We nibble on creamy deviled eggs, savory house-smoked bratwurst, crispy cubes of potato pavé, and a pillowy brioche roll that I smear in Normandy butter that’s sweetened with honey from Alabama’s own Eastaboga Bee Company.”
