Mayor Randall L. Woodfin today highlighted the City of Birmingham’s 2026 legislative agenda, a neighborhoods-first package of proposals designed to hold negligent property owners accountable, return abandoned properties to productive use, and ensure longtime residents can afford to remain in the communities they helped build.

The agenda is being considered by the Alabama Legislature and focuses on equipping the city with modern tools to prevent blight, revitalize neighborhoods, and expand affordable housing opportunities.

“Birmingham’s legislative agenda is about one thing: giving our city the tools it needs to hold negligent property owners accountable, revitalize neighborhoods, and keep housing affordable for the people who call Birmingham home,” Woodfin said. “Strong neighborhoods are the foundation of a strong city.”
